Gibt es einen Unterschied, ob ich die Fahrkarten für diesen Zug ein paar Monate früher oder z. B. nur ein paar Wochen/Tage früher kaufe? Ich sehe, dass es keine Sitzplatzreservierung gibt, daher bin ich mir nicht sicher, wie es zum Zeitpunkt des Abflugs genau aussieht.

Nope, the prices will be the same, as there are special prices on the route. So you can decide spontaneously and even buy the tickets just minutes before the departure via App.
This is how Norway encourages you to take the train vs. flying.
