So he’s going to shut the barn door now that the horses have run off? On the one hand, better late than never, on the other hand, it is really frigging late. If the Liberals are starting to (belatedly) cave to popular pressure, their internal polling must be scaring the crap out of them. Like as in it is ‘Marc Miller might lose his super-safe Montreal riding’ bad.

  2. What he means is all the TFW’s are going to be fast tracked to PR status before their contract runs out

The TFW program is rife with FRAUD! There should be criminal investigations and people should be going to jail.

    It’s treasonous!

lol it’s like they’ve suddenly woken up to the smell of their own stupidity.

Given that he was responsible for causing the problem itself by ruining a system that was somewhat effective and well balanced in the past, the significant change would be him resigning and being replaced with a competent minister

I just can’t anymore. This is where that old adage…”their lips are moving..” is clearly underscored.

They’re not doing it because it’s the right thing, it’s just a last ditch effort to try and save their own asses and the liberal brand. Too little too late.

Don’t be fooled. This is to done in desperation to solve a problem they exasperated to save themselves from election annihilation.

We here at the Canadian Institute of Morality believe all illigals have the right to our money…for their votes. So this is disappointing

And then what after the election? Switch it back? And they’ve made promises before

No, they aren’t.  Still allow for up to 10%, when last I checked I don’t know how any % are a proven by the business owner to be accurate in the first place.

Also, it’s only a cut back for places where unemployment is more than 6%.  So whole chunks of the country will continue to see the abusive tactics businesses have been engaging in.

For example, where the clause limiting how many workers the business owner can cram into a single living unit?  Where’s the rule prohibiting any business owner in a city from housing the workers in the it own rental units?

Basically, it’s a slap in the wrist.

Could have done this even 1 years ago ago and it would still be a race between Trudeau and Pierre

This is why you can’t be so out of touch by the time u actually listen to your voters it’s too late

Unpopular opinion but I don’t believe that PR numbers need to be reduced. It’s TFW’s and international students that need to be drastically cut to the bone.

PR’s are the skilled immigrants that will actually provide value to us. The doctors, entrepreneurs, nurses, accountants, and scientists that we need.

When this government makes the right decision, it’s still the wrong decision. A sure sign that their time is up.

    >Statistics Canada said the country’s population in 2023 grew faster than it has at any time since the 1950s due to a sharp rise in temporary residents. Canada’s population surpassed 41 million people in the first quarter of 2024, to reach 41,012,563 on April 1, 2024.

And now our population is now 41,646,303 according to statscan.

Not as significant as how much he fucked up the country.

  16. > “Now it’s time to take a look at them and put real options on the table for the prime minister and for other cabinet ministers to look at, and not cosmetic changes simply to deal with public opinion. Real significant change,” Miller said in an interview Monday with CTV News Chief Political Correspondent Vassy Kapelos.

So… if their policy was right (according to them) before and questioning it or suggesting reducing PR levels was racist (also according to them)…

    1. Do they expect anyone to buy that they’re doing anything but changing the levels due to public opinion? And,

    2. Does this now make the Liberal Party a bunch of racists?
