It’s not necessarily that they won’t, I’m guessing it’s that they can’t afford to retire.
Won’t? Please. It’s because they can’t.
Another is the factor that people, especially men, don’t want to retire. I know several people in this situation. They don’t want to feel irrelevant, or do like their fathers, retire and die. A lot of older guys I talk to seem to be more afraid of the latter.
Written by someone who’s never been one of those young workers. Retirement age people are hardly the drag where I’m at, it’s the people my age and younger who don’t show up to work, or come in so high they can’t do anything.

Back in the 70s and 80s one didn’t see grandparents working…back when there we pensions and living wages…
