Submission statement: AI is a dual use technology. It can be used to make beautiful art and it can be used to make child porn.
According to this article, there’s been an outbreak of AI generated child porn, and they usually use open source software, and open source software can’t stop it from being used this way. When people try to use ChatGPT or Claude to make child porn, they’re stopped. When people try to use Meta’s „open source“ AI, there’s nothing Meta can do to stop them.
How should we deal with this? Should AI corporations have guardrails in place to prevent grievous misuse of AI? Or should they have no accountability for what their AIs do because *AIs* don’t make child porn, *people* make child porn?

I mean……wouldn’t using ai to create child porn instead of real children reduce child abuse? I feel like it’s only child abuse if a human child is involved in some way.
The world needs super strict regulations around generative AIs. I’m scared of what we’re heading to as a woman
God this is gross. AI image generation is just one of those things we are going to always wish was never was developed . It’s going to be something future generations are going to curse us for letting happen.
It’s a controversial topic for sure, but I’d rather have these people creating fake porn to satisfy their urges than kidnapping children and making real porn.
I am guessing this is the first instance, but certainly won’t be the last
I mean, where I live, crime is up 50% since 2014. Car jackings and robberies are up over 100%. Shootings and stabbings up 140%. Solve that shit before putting resources into this.
I watched a random Moistcritikal AI video like an hour ago and saw some AI kids moving there and instantly thought ”oh shit”. It didn’t cross my mind before but here we are. Didn’t take long.

When people try to use Claude to make child porn, they’re stopped because it’s a language model and can’t generate pictures 🤦♂️
Not to be gross but I have to ask, where is the crime here? By that I mean, who is the victim?
People with mental illnesses will seek out ways to satisfy that illness. These people need help. Sad.
