Hallo zusammen,

    Mich würde interessieren, warum sich die Mehrzahl der Fischereifahrzeuge (sowohl norwegische als auch isländische, …) an dieser Position nördlich der Färöer-Inseln bzw. westlich von Norwegen im Atlantik versammelt. Gibt es dort eine bestimmte Unterwasserstruktur?

    Vielleicht hat jemand Erfahrung in der kommerziellen Fischerei.

      I would guess that it has more to do with fishing rights than how much fish there is at this spot. It might be less regulated or have bigger quotas for some reason.

      Likely most of them are trawlers, and they will always go to the place with loads of fish. I can think of there being lots of fish that is going for nutrients and tasty stuff in convecting ocean currents, which happen to collect in that area, maybe. Maybe a particular fish like mackerel, caperel, or herring is gathering and attracting the fish type they want. (Typically cod or haddock)

      It doesn’t ring out to me as anything special in depth charts, and there’s few fish at the bottom at around 1000-2000 meters that are actively being fished by any of them.
