      For reference this article is over ten years old and the original okcupid post might be like 15 years old or so at this point.

      Data from 2009. From everything I’ve heard about apps these days, I bet these numbers are a lot lower today especially for men initiating.

      Personally I would keep the raw counts instead of calculating response rates. Then run a chisquare.

      Isn’t this really old data from an okcupid blog? I’d venture to say it’s not nearly as relevant anymore.

      Since that time, as an example, kpop took off and Asian men are seen on a way more sexual light than they were a decade or two ago

      I’m a white male currently online dating (but not in the US, I’m in Europe).

      I’ve done it several times before, it’s never been a great success but I’ve made friends, had dates, met people, etc. just no serious LTR’s out of it.

      Since COVID and/or turning 40, it’s useless. Nobody replies. I spent two years just using profiles on all the major dating sites as research, one after the other, often with their paid services, different photos, different (but always honest) bits in my profile, etc. and tried to see if there was some combination of things that worked. There isn’t. Never had problems before, but since COVID/40 nobody is interested despite the fact that I’ve haven’t grown ugly, impregnated 20 single mothers with children, shrunk 12 inches, become homeless or whatever criteria people evaluate on.

      I found it totally disheartening, to be honest. Gave up everything dating-wise for an entire year.

      Got back into it last week, because the real world is even worse. Signed up to OKCupid again (because that has worked “the best” for me in the past).

      Every single person who has liked my profile so far is a black woman, often not living in my country. None of them talk, even though they pressed Like.

      I’m not at all sure you can use their stats for anything definitive. I think they have a bot and/or “marry a foreigner for a visa” problem.

      Also: Within a week of their 3-month membership (which is now stupidly expensive), there is nobody showing to me in the “stacks” of profiles. Each morning, the same half-dozen people I’ve already liked, messaged or swiped-left. A few swipes in, it says the stack is empty and they only have profiles from the Philippines or Australia to show me.

      I think that online dating died when nobody was looking (COVID) and they just don’t want to admit it because how will they get you to pay for it otherwise?

      Indian men with the highest reply rate (outside of their hatred of pacific women) and the lowest replied to rate. Sounds accurate tbh

      What I see glaringly first is that both Asian males and Asian females like black females and black males the least.

      The color scheme is pretty deceptive. 20% is TERRIBLE (red), while 30% is AWESOME (green). That make it look like there’s this huge dramatic difference between races, when the data actually says that all guys are having a miserable time and their response rates are single digits apart.
