Wir sind am 06.07.2024 nach Deutschland gezogen und haben nach 1 Monat unsere Anmeldung für die Rundfunksteuer erstellt. Vor kurzem haben wir einen Brief wie diesen bekommen. Wie ich weiß, beträgt die Steuer 18 Euro pro Monat. Aber warum sind das so hohe Beträge? Kann das bitte jemand erklären?

312,12 € are exactly 17 months of contribution. As this includes August/September, they someone assume you had to pay from May 2023.
Did you by any chance made an error during registration and mixed the year up? Or are we missing something?
If you haven’t been to Germany before, contact them and sort it out.
I’d guess that the previous tenant didn’t pay and they somehow try to get that money from you.
You should definitely get in touch and maybe provide a Meldebescheinigung that shows your date of registration of that address.
