Such a great map. Would have been even better if the source had been mentioned as well. For anyone curious, it’s the 1917 edition of the Kavkazskiy kalendar https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasus_Viceroyalty_(1801%E2%80%931917)#Demographics
Look at who was the biggest loser of the last century in th region… such a loss for humanity as a whole…
In my opinion, it shows perfectly why there wasn’t a lot of Armenians in Armenia proper — most of us were spread making substantial parts if not the majority in such big and important cities as Rostov-on-Don, Tbilisi, Baku, Vladikavkaz, Yekaterinodar and etc, while maintaining quite low rural population, being behind Georgians and North Caucasians in this regard. The same thing was in the Ottoman Empire and Iran, where Armenians formed large proportion in the cities, while low in the rurals. For example, Constantinople had more Armenians than any Armenian vilayet
There were more Armenians than Azeris at the beginning of the 20th century. Now there’s three times more Azeris in Azerbaijan than Armenians in Armenia. Nice
