Around 8am, the alarm sirens could be heard going off in Vaud. It appears they were set off ny accident.

and then they wonder why people won’t take alarms and warnings serious and die

Very annoying, I had my windows open lmao.

It’s the vacations for me, to be woken up at 8am is the shittiest thing ever 🤣

    4. Could we stop normalizing the à Vaud. Vaud is not a specific place, it’s a canton. Dans le canton de Vaud would be the right thing to say.

    5. Lol now I know that if there is a war, I will wake up too late for it. I didn’t hear single shit in lausanne

    6. For those wondering what to do next time it happens:
      – turn on the radio
      – have apps like AlertSwiss and MeteoSuisse installed to get notifications
      – stock up TP and cenovis

lmao i was half woken up by them and was thinking, „oh great the nuke war has started already?“ and proceeded to go back to sleep ahahsjfhhahah it was the first time ive ever heard the sirens so i questioned if they were legit or just some builders in the area making a racket

    8. Everyone should install the Alertswiss app. I’m currently in Belgium and I’ve never seen such an efficient and pro-active use of this app in other countries.

    9. Yeah, I was still in bed when my phone started blaring… Good god, what a noise! I wish I could have seen the expression on my own face later. Blared right through the DND that was on.

Like how is a false alarm triggered over a huge network like this? Doesn’t make sense. Either it’s a planned test, or an actual live emergency. Something similar happened in Hawaii a few years ago and the explanation for it was very sus.

i was still in bed and had the windows wide open, scared the shit out of me lol

    12. We had this in our village right about the time the ukraine war started after midnight. That was scary.

    13. People talked about the application not working properly. But was it really the case ? I just think that since it’s accidental, they took more time to share the information (the radio had the information at the same time the application had it)

    14. Was on a bus in Nyon when the siren went off and there was a older guy behind me who casually muttered in french „the Russians are bombing us“🤣

    15. This is beyond ridiculous how this can happen. No one would move a finger in case of a real alert due to their regular siren tests on wednesdays and such errors.

I got the notification on my watch right as the sound started just saying « an alert is active at your location » and when I opened the notification on my phone it took me to the official website giving me 0 infos, just a refresh page error.

Anyhow, diary of a ceo podcast had an expert on atomic warfare scenarios. Apparently the time a nuclear missile is shot until we all die is 30 minutes and he said most probably we wouldnt get informed right away due to chain of command decision taking, making it highly likely most wouldnt see it coming.

He also explained that in case for example russia shoots a nuke, the US etc would be forced to shoot back a ton of nukes cuz they cant know for sure they are not the target, they can assume. But they dont have time to wait and see. So if they shoot back, russia would be forced to shoot back even more leading to the annihilation of 90%+ of the worlds population.

Yeah funny podcast, not at all 2 hours of depressing truths
