A fine bottle of vinegar.

The bottle is probably brown, so it’s hard to see if it’s white wine or red wine, but Rheinpfalz is usually white wine, and white wine from 1976 probably has already „turned“ and won’t taste good anymore.
My parents made the mistake of buying a bottle of white wine at my birth they wanted to open at my 18th birthday. Didn’t work, wine had gone bad.
Red wines stay good over much longer timespans.

Everything translates to: this bottle is vinegar by now.

This is a wine from Bad Dürkheim an der Weinstraße: the „Bad“ prefix means it’s a spa town, and the „an der Weinstraße“ suffix was added to the name because it’s on the German Wine Route, Germany’s first ever tourist route which runs through the wine-growing region of the Palatinate.
Very specifically, the wine comes from the Deidesheimer Hofstück vineyard. Deidesheim is a village near Bad Dürkheim, and they vineyard is actually named after the Otterberger Hof, an old house in Deidesheim practically next door to where my German penpal lived.

I recently had a similar bottle from 1981. My grandma forgot it in her cellar for a couple decades.
Due to the fact that this grape variety is usually only cultivated in good terroir, because of its demanding nature, you might have a drinkable bottle.
The wine beeing a TBA Makes it rather shelf stable.
I think depending on how it was stored (light, standing up or lying down, and temperature, also how often it was moved) is the deciding factor if its still a great wine.
It will need a few minutes in the glass though to open up since its that old

If the bottle was stored properly. It will still be good. The bottle may be very expensive.

Not sure about the wine, but Deidesheimer Hof is a very fancy restaurant/event location these days with a delicate wine collection. I used to work there as a student. Maybe they could give you some more info about this particular bottle

It’s a Trockenbeerenauslese from 1976, a style that relies on Botrytis-grapes and very high sugar counts to make long lasting bottles. What’s interesting about this bottle is its grape: Albalonga since that’s super niche and never really penetrated the market.
Depending on storage this might even still be alive and drinkable.

If this was stored lying flat at consistent temperature and humidity you might potentially have something quite special.
If it wasn’t, that’s absolutely, definitely gone.

Whitewine from 1976 deidesheimer Hofstück if stored correctly could be worth around 100 to 200,-€
