Geschickt mit Make-up-Pinsel und Pistole: Oleksii, ein Make-up-Artist, der zum Soldaten wurde

Soldier Oleksii, known by the call sign Angel, is from Dnipro. He worked as a makeup artist in civilian life.

“My mom is a makeup artist and coach of the Ukrainian national team. Before that, I worked in advertising for 15 years. I had a crisis and realized I needed a change. I went to my mom and said, ‘Teach me.’ It seemed like the perfect profession, working with women.”

After the start of the full-scale war, Oleksii joined the ranks of a volunteer formation in his native Dnipro. In the summer of 2022, he learned to operate unmanned aerial systems. He knows another makeup artist who fights near Avdiivka.

He says that many incorrectly assume he is gay due to his profession. Oleksii recalls the last time he held a makeup brush was in May 2022:

“We had a girl named Asiia at the headquarters, a lovely girl. And that was probably the last time I held brushes; I did her makeup, and that was it. After that, everything stopped.”

He doesn’t yet know what he will do after the victory, but he says he won’t return to the profession of a makeup artist.
