Just another case of our wonderful neighbors doing what they do best
To the best of my family’s knowledge, all of my Armenian ancestors were Kharpertsi. I’m actually only two generations removed from people who were born there.
With that ugly flag on top to boot. They are so insecure, they have to drape it over everything.
My mother’s entire side of the family were once from Kharpert. They even relocated to “Nor Kharpert” in Armenia after the genocide.
So sad that there’s not a single trace of us left over there
Imagine this town still being intact and being a part of Armenia. Would be one of the main tourist destinations

I wonder what the Turks in denial justify by conplete obliteration of the houses and villas too.
All 4 of my great grandparents on the Armenian side of my family are from there. Earliest came to the US in 1909 last in 1923.
We have a few family heirlooms that we think made it over with my great grandfather in 1909. Though not 100% if they were acquired here or not.
The second to last photo is heartbreaking. My great grandma was from kharpert. I read in a book that it was the heart of where Armenians began.
