      Submission statement:

      This report provides an overview of global energy mixes through 2023, which is when the renewables revolution started to really take off. It shows that we have a long way to go with solar and wind, but that they are continuing to gain momentum.

      Unfortunately, the report also reveals that fossil fuel use is increasing as well, and we look to be on track for another year of record-breaking emissions. Energy demand is growing quickly in what the report calls the Global South, and while renewables are meeting some of that new demand, most of it is being met by fossil fuel use.

      Looking at this data, I would say moving the whole world green in the next 5 years is very unlikely. I wonder if there is anyone working on shifts from coal to oil to natural gas. Less polluting fossil fuel in place of more polluting fossil fuel may be a more realistic short term approach. Also more nuclear could help
