Ich wohne jetzt seit vier Monaten in meiner Studentenwohnung und das WLAN-Setup hier hat mich schon immer fasziniert. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob die Internetquelle der WLAN-Router in meiner Wohnung oder die Türme auf der Terrasse sind.
Da ich den WLAN-Benutzernamen und das Passwort separat erhalten habe, musste ich nie in die Anleitung des Routers schauen. Aufgrund kürzlich aufgetretener Internetprobleme musste ich jedoch die Einrichtung selbst beheben. Dabei fiel mir etwas Merkwürdiges auf: Der Router hat keine Stromquelle – nur ein angeschlossenes Ethernet-Kabel und die Steckdose. Es ist auch keine IP-Adresse damit verknüpft. Interessanterweise funktioniert das Internet unabhängig davon, ob der Router angeschlossen ist oder nicht.
Hat jemand Einblick, wie dieser Mechanismus funktioniert?

Device is access point and has PoE. Power over Ethernet. So no need for power adapter. There’s probably many access points in the range. So that’s why you’re still connected.

On what device? Surely you can see from your phone or whatever if it’s connected to wifi? Phones will automatically swap to available and saved networks or mobile depending on availability
Looks like you need to study a bit about network technology before troubleshooting 😉
Consumer „routers“ have usually bult-in wi-fi access point, router, switch and modem (wired or wireless).
This is only an access point. Rest of the gear is somewhere else, probably in a locked cabinet I’m basement or something.
There are most probably multiple access points across the building. If you disconnect one, the coverage probably gets worst, bit doesn’t disappear at least.in your location.
Based.on above, you don’t have probably anything you can do on the infra side, just check your device settings and contact support.
