The pope said AI represented an „epochal transformation“ for mankind, but stressed the need for close oversight of the ever-developing technology to preserve human life and dignity.“
No machine should ever choose to take the life of a human being,“ he said, adding that people should not let superpowerful algorithms decide their destiny.“
We would condemn humanity to a future without hope if we took away people’s ability to make decisions about themselves and their lives, by dooming them to depend on the choices of machines,“ he warned.“
Religions must be so scared of AI laying out truths and facts to potential and existing believers researching the subject.

Why not lose control of it? If it’s better than humans, why not let it have control over us? If it has superior morality and is more intelligent than all of humanity (hard to quantify that tho), why not let it?

Can somebody please ask an LLM to summarize the Christian Bible, and to rank the Biblical God based on their actions throughout the entire book on a spectrum between “Loving God”, and “Pretty much the Devil”.
I’m confident AI is going to read that book and immediately place God very near the latter.
Out of date industry is scared of something they don’t use or understand.
Up until this point in mankinds history (every) religion had a far greater and even deadlier impact than AI. How it started wars, divided people, killed lots of people, and controls uncountable amounts of people all over the world.
If you would tell the tale of any religion and replaced the word religion for AI then it would be a very scary story. It’s impacting people’s lives daily.
