Hallo – mein Partner und ich haben vor Kurzem für eine Woche am Flughafen in Rovaniemi bei Green Motion ein Auto gemietet. Nach der Inspektion haben sie uns per E-Mail mitgeteilt, dass sie einen neuen Schaden (Toyota Corolla) gefunden haben – (es war eine wirklich kleine Delle über dem Rad – sieht aus, als wäre während der Fahrt ein kleiner Stein unter dem Rad eines anderen Autos hervorgeflogen, keine Ahnung).
Wir haben vor und nach der Anmietung Fotos gemacht, allerdings nicht so detailliert und aus der Ferne, sodass man es nicht erkennen kann :/

Wie dem auch sei, sie wollen uns 720 € für so eine Kleinigkeit berechnen, das ist lächerlich – gibt es eine Möglichkeit, sich dagegen zu wehren?

They’re fishing. Rental car companies man… How do you even make damage that small? Could have easily been there before you took the car.

I wouldn’t pay 720€ for that, I doubt that’s the cost of PDR.
If you caused the damage shown in picture 720€ sounds reasonable. Rental car insurance exists for these cases.

i had a car subscription for 6 months. at the end they sent me a bill for 2.500€. i had insurance and thought i pay 500€ maximum, but it was „500€ per damage“, so my bill had 5 or so damages of about 750€ because of dents like these and different spots (500 me, 250 the „insurance“). so that’s how they made their money: 3.000€ for the car, 2.500€ bonus at the end.

Used to work at a car rental place in the past.
a) They have detailed pictures / video of the vehicle after every rental period to check against to see when the damage appeared
b) Stone with enough energy to dent the metal would have damaged the paint. Or maybe there is paint damage, it’s hard to say from the picture.
c) Unfortunately the price they quote isn’t far from reasonable over here. Everything costs a lot and they can’t take it to a backyard mechanic to fix. Size of dent hardly matters since the procedure to fix it is the same. I would still say there’s like 200€ extra in there, maybe that’s a quote from the actual Toyota dealer and not a reputable 3rd party shop.
One should always get the extra insurance or whatever with the lowest co-pay for any damage when renting a car. Especially if it’s just for a few days. Just not worth the hassle afterwards to save a little money.

I see too many misleading comments. I know it is a very very cheap to fix in some countries. But in Finland, 720 euros is pretty normal for such work. That’s why you get full insurance to avoid such surprises.
A couple of years ago some douche smashed the mirror of my rented MB Vito and the rental company Sixt charged 3000€ for one fucking mirror. Luckily the company I worked for at the time paid for it though.
I’ve done panel beating before, this fix is 15 minutes of labour and most of that is trying to get the guard off. There is no need to replace the guard which is usually where high costs start to begin. In the shop I worked this would be quoted 150€ at the absolute top end.
