    I wouldn’t say the main factor here is non-proximity to larger migrant populations.

    Rather it is economical in nature. Living standards and employment in the east are still worse than in the west and many East Germans feel like second-class citizens, forgotten by Wessi-politicians.

    Why would any migrant want to go to these areas if there’s no future there anyway?
