† Eternal rest. Senior Scout (v.s.) JUOZAS MASLAUSKAS. On 23 October 2009, after a serious and long illness, our union’s longtime worker, Brother Juozas, who lived in England, departed for Eternity. He was born in 1924 in Rokiškis and had lived in England since 1947. For many years he held various posts in the European District and often wrote about Scouting matters in the broader press. The whole Scouting community mourns together and deeply sympathizes with his wife Jean and children Jeanine, John and Peter. Rest in peace, dear Brother Juozas.

    2. [Kraštiečiai – Rokiskio biblioteka](https://www.rokiskis.rvb.lt/krastieciai/) by the surname letter I find someone by this name but birthdate is slightly different, yet it may still be the same person. if you went extra mile you could try to contact the library using google translate as it is unlikely they would speak English, the workers.

    3. Not the person, but a potential clarification on the father and living location:

Found this newspaper scan from 1947 – https://www.spauda.org/naujienos/archive/1947/1947-12-02-NAUJIENOS-i7-8.pdf

Relevant section is the list of people being searched for by the Lithuanian General Consulate in New York. This is a couple years after the war, so very likely that Juozas was searching for information about his family.

It reads: Maslausko, Boleslovo, iš Ovelių val., Rokiškio apskr. giminės ir pažįstami prašomi atsiliepti.

Boleslovas is a slavic long form version of Balys. „Ovelių“ is likely a typo for „Obelių“.

Full translation: Relatives and acquaintances of Boleslovas Maslauskas, from Obeliai township, Rokiškis county, are asked to get in touch.

So alternative search options would be Boleslovas Maslauskas for the father, and Obeliai township, instead of just the general area of Rokiskis.

    4. Well since it is from a D.P he’s probably a displaced person from WW2.

I’m guessing that he fled to Germany during or after WW2 probably to either the American or British occupation zones and ended up in a displaced persons camp as many people who fled their homes during the war did.

On another note, that handwriting is amazing.
