      Sources:

      – Imagery: Copernicus Sentinel-2 (10 m), Dec 2025 to Oct 2026; sharper „before“ images from Esri

      – Boundaries: as filed by each developer on PARIVESH, India’s environmental clearance portal

      – 2021 land cover: ESA WorldCover („tree cover“ includes orchards, so it isn’t the same as forest)

      – 3D terrain: SRTM, height ×1.5

Cleared inside the filed boundaries by 13 Oct 2026: Tarluvada 221 acres, Adavivaram 88, Rambilli 91. That’s about 400 acres (≈1.6 km²), of which ~325 were tree cover in 2021.

Limits: 10 m pixels can’t count individual trees, and satellites can’t say whether land is legally forest.

I made these maps. Full method and the official clearance documents: [https://thevisualcase.com/stories/making-way-for-ai-in-vizag/](https://thevisualcase.com/stories/making-way-for-ai-in-vizag/)

Compared to last year, 42% less trees were cut down in Brazilian amazonas

Thank fuck its wasnt in Bengaluru/Karnataka. We have enough problems with falling water table levels and slow reforestation rates.
