The number of *Happenings* per week is significantly increasing. I miss the pre-2012 calm.

**Edit:** This was not meant to be a joke or attempt at humour btw. People have lost their lives. It’s sad and devastating. RIP to all those who died, and I hope the ones who survived can recover quickly.

Yikes. I wonder how many casualties are „significant“ and wtf happened here. I wonder if we will ever know

    3. The defence minister says there are multiple fatalities and injuries, but wouldn’t say anything more.

The minister says there’s no event like this in „recent memory.“

    4. Fuck.

I brought my family to Petawawa here where I work. It reminds me that one explosion at the ammo compound could end it for me and a whole lot of people.

God please let it not be that.

    5. CBC’s military reporter: This is the leading base for live fire training exercises in Canada. It appears there was a training exercise that went wrong in a way we haven’t seen in modern Canadian history

I read some posts on X from people who live around there are saying they had some live fire exercises going on today, it was really windy and they were worried about a fire that would spread. ~~Some are saying a drone went down and started the fire.~~ **edit:** Some are now saying a gas line was hit, the explosion and the fire caused many injuries and some deaths.

Plenty of videos showing a lot of smoke. Doubtful we will get any details this evening as they try to manage this tragedy.

    7. Hope whoever was affected will be ok. But based on the few details available, it seems like some people lost their lives.

    8. We had 100km hour winds today as well which would have massively overblown any fires. A recipe for disaster.

I can’t even imagine what the families of the soldiers stationed there are feeling hearing this and waiting for further news.

    10. Ugh, RIP to those who lost their lives and thoughts and prayers to the families…but at the risk of sounding morose…I really hope this was simply a training incident and not foul play.

      CAF MEMBERS!

Remember to do your part not to spread rumors and keep things internal to your friend group and teams.

If there are casualties their families need to learn about them through the proper channels.

It sounds a lot like a fire that was carried by heavy winds, similar to forest fire fighters being caught and unable to outrun it.

There was an awful public transit disaster in Calgary a couple of days ago, and now this happens. So tragic for Alberta. Thinking of everyone who was affected ❤️🇨🇦

Not good whatever happened. Use flight radar to watch the air ambulances.

    15. Sask. premier: „Saskatchewan has deployed resources to Alberta and is ready to provide more if required to assist in responding to the serious incident at CFB Wainwright.“

This is super SUPER bad considering the windstorms going on today in Alberta. These winds are gonna make the flames worse and it’s already a multiple fatality and mass injury event.

Heads are gonna roll for allowing practice with live ammunition during a super windy and dry day.

Haven’t seen it posted yet…Good time to remind everyone to Give Blood.

We got a code orange at an Edmonton hospital. Mass casualty event 🙁
