Restrictions on Ukraine’s military use of SpaceX’s Starlink system appear to be deliberate and not the result of any technical problems, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, while denouncing a US decision to waive sanctions against Russia.

Speed limitations on the Starshield internet network remain in place across Ukraine, resulting in a significant slowing down of connections, Zelenskyy said in audio messages to reporters via WhatsApp on Saturday.

After sending vehicles connected to Starshield to Europe to conduct speed checks and finding they operated normally outside Ukraine, officials in Kyiv concluded that the restrictions “are on the territory of Ukraine – so it is a planned operation,” he said.

For anyone Starlink / Starshields are not used on Russian territory even tho they should. They only help with intercepting shahed drone variants and all the other type of drones and also in middle strikes in Russian occupied territories. So more people will die becouse of this.

everything starlink related is a huge scam, europe pays for it and they deliver something with so many limitation that shuts off and on depending how the trump and musk feel like that day.

Maybe the EU could block X/Twitter across the whole of the bloc. That would make the two that decided to play games with people lives sit up and think.

There is technology to stop throttling that can be used on the user end. I’m surprised they aren’t using it.

That’s what you get when one person controls the one thing everybody uses.

      of course.

how likely is it that these systems suddenly start to have a „technical flaw“, which makes it impossible to use for intercepting russia attacks, while the US can pretend that it works in principle.

nobody in the US really explained it or did anything to fix it, all while the US is lifting sanctions on russia.

its clearly the US that is sabotaging ukraine to assist russia in their war…

Trump’s betrayal of Ukraine and Europe in general will end up being the defining moment when the world begins turning away from the United States in earnest. Russia will play Trump and the rest of the Republican Party of traitors for as long as they need to get what they want, then will eventually turn against the US as well.

In the end, Republicans will have succeeded in turning the US into a pariah state, and their own children will grow up in a diminished nation with diminished opportunities, surrounded by a world that hates them for being the traitors that they have always been.

Yeah I don’t know why all of these articles keep saying Starlink is the problem when it’s Starshield that’s the problem. I like shitting on Elon as much as anyone but it’s ultimately a DoD/Pentagon decision to do this. And we all know who they get their orders from. Kinda seems like they are trying to purposefully shift blame from Trump

    11. smellmyfingerplz on

I think it’s clear Trump is just doing whatever possible for self-preservation and must have a deal with Russia to lower oil prices so the Republicans can retain full control of the government. He doesn’t care what or who it backstabs

The quickest way to solve this for Zelensky is obviously don’t use starlink all together. Stop supporting fascist like Elon. People has been communicating over long distance with smoke signal for ages, as well as carrier pigeon. Zelensky don’t need kneel and kiss the feet of these American fascist.

    13. I don’t know if Americans are aware of the depravity of what their government just did, and how history will look at them in the future unless the Republican Party is cleaned out.

This event will be a main heading in every history textbook going forward. Not only have you betrayed an ally you swore to support over multiple agreements and treaties, but you are illegally ripping up the sanctions YOU IMPOSED YOURSELVES to fund Russia’s war machine. And for nothing in return.

If you aren’t already, you need to organize, not just whine on the internet about how protesting is too hard because you need to work. The down stream ramifications of this can, and are increasingly likely to, cause millions of deaths. History will remember those who actually fought against republicans, and those who didn’t do anything. And the blame will be squarely on those of you who didn’t do enough, because functionally you aren’t any different than republicans.

      It is deliberate.

Trump is trying to force Ukraine to accept a peace treaty so he can tell MAGA he successfully ended the war like he said he would.

      It’s all for the midterms.

The irony is the article is behind the paywall and so is Zelenskyy.

Absolutely reflection of American capitalism. Gate keeping information and technology behind paywall.
