„Die japanische Öffentlichkeit beschwerte sich über die Belästigung chinesischer Touristen, und Takaichi reagierte mit dem Widerruf von Geschäftsvisa, was zur Schließung indischer Restaurants führte und unser Speiseangebot einschränkte. Diejenigen, die überleben, sind hauptsächlich wohlhabende Chinesen. Was genau war der Zweck dieser ‚Politik‘?“

Oh look, everything the foreign residents predicted came true while all the Japanese just blindly listened.

Clout from stupid people. I’d personally appreciate if she got rid of twitch streamers and tiktok „content creators“ but yeah, we ain’t having anything good here, I guess.

    3. takaichi went to the Selina Meyer school of being the worst fucking leader of all time

Just because she’s at the top doesn’t mean she knows what she’s doing there

    5. >caused Indian restaurants to close, narrowing our dining options.

What kind of stupid spin is this? Haha oh no we didn’t get the recipes before they left!!! Open the borders!!!

It’s an unintended consequence of a wilfully ignorant policy. Does this qualify as a paradox?

    7. 3 types of wanted foreigners:
      – ultra cheap labor semi slaves to dispose of them after few years
      – wealthy foreign investors
      – temporary expats with ultra high salaries

If you dont fall in these types you are not wanted

    8. Welcome to smokescreen politics, where untalented and/or malicious politicians destroy the lives of innocent people to satisfy an uneducated voter base red pilled by Russian bots on twitter.

The point of the policy was so that the public can see that they’re going hard on it, even if their method doesn’t end up working. It’s like Trump’s border wall, anyone can tell you it’s a stupid idea that won’t affect immigration at all, but his base like the idea of the wall because it’s simple and brutish enough for them to understand. They don’t care about real solutions, they want to feel like their grievances are being addressed. It’s the same with chuds everywhere.

Americans getting this emotionally invested in another country’s immigration and foreign policies is hilarious. Who cares? Let them run their country however they want. Not every country on Earth needs to operate according to your personal beliefs.

The purpose of this policy was to keep power by putting on a dog and pony show. And find someone else to blame for her and Abe’s own economic problems.

C’mon that’s a reach. Narrowing dining options… Like Indian food is the most sought out delicatesse in Japan 😂

Every regulation is written by the wealthy/large corporations because they are the only ones that can afford to abide by them, and it drives smaller competition out of business. See: America

So first of all this is a Daily Shincho article. The most ragebaity crap you can get outside of Bunshun.

Second, most of the Indian restaurants that survived COVID are still here. They tend to be the good ones anyway and the ones that did close down probably were probably empty anyway. Restaurants are closing in record numbers but this includes any restaurants regardless of who the owners are

Hmm, the Japanese have always liked the fancy rich Chinese. Funny how you’re so butt hurt about it.

It’s been like this for two thousand years…. You could call it imperial policy.

They don’t want the riff raff.

    17. I think japan dont realize how fucked they are. I am japanese and all i can see is less workers everywhere, we need foreigners to keep the economy running

    18. minohCycles on

Less dining options but don’t forget, also less corporate tax revenue, disappeared employee income tax, municipal tax, and social insurance contributions.

Politicians love pretending to do something, or doing something spontaneously without considering the actual consequences.

Takaichi government is toxic. Can’t wait to see her gone.

Man idk why Japan news is showing up on my feed, but the more I see stuff like this, the less I want to visit that country. Seems like they don’t like anyone else. Weird bunch of people.

    21. Ever since the day Japan was forced to open its borders by Commodore Perry, Japanese right-wingers have harbored a deep-seated desire to return to a state of national isolation and expel foreigners.
This sentiment was fueled by the influx of European-style exclusionary ideology, ultimately giving rise to a Prime Minister like Sanae Takaichi.
In the end, these exclusionary policies are simply a manifestation of the Japanese desire to drive out foreigners.

The point is rhetoric, facts never matter when the intended purpose is just rhetoric and posturing.

    23. Let me summarize about Japan wants VS Japan needs
      Wants:
      1. Wealthy westerners who pay into all Japan pension/insurance without taking any of.
      2. High income young white collar workers who speak perfect Japanese. Need to be either white or Asians that look Japanese enough that don’t disturb Japanese people feeling

      Needs:
      1. Slave wage labourers to do farm/ construction/ healthcare/ elderly care works that Japanese people don’t want to do. On visa that can be easily kicked out of Japan.
      2. White collar workers who can speak at least 2 languages English/Chinese/ Korean, have technical knowledge to fill in gaps and do work in SME Japan companies at terrible wages that Japanese at that income level can’t do. Will pay into every social program without taking any out
