      K. Didn’t know about the monolog, makes sense why outlets have been so hyper focused on him dropping the F-bomb when the gp doesn’t seem to care. Great distraction. Holy shit.

    2. I don’t know what Gillis’ monologue said because I have zero interest in anything that comes out of Shane Gillis’ mouth.

    3. EveryAccount7729 on

did people not see the first time he was on? or the last time or whatever?

It was really bad then too.

His delivery also sucks. not just the content of his jokes.

    4. I love how everyone is ignoring the fact he just stole a Chris Rock joke from like 30 years ago but had a worse delivery.

    5. WorriedTooth3239 on

SNL and NBC banned Martin Lawrence for his feminine hygiene jokes. I bet they won’t do anything to this Shane Gillis guy.

People who get upset at comedy really worry me. They remind of those poor kids born without immune systems who have to live in a bubble.

    7. Not the worst joke in an overall off show, I was more weirded out by the Joe Rogan – Theo Von unncessary name drops like people would cheer or something? Not funny, but also any professioanl should know the room no?

      Gillis, who hosted “
      SNL
” over the weekend, has generated heated backlash for his
      comments about women
in his opener. “I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t know women just dress like whores now?” he said. “Look, I’m sorry, there’s no other way to describe [it]. Have you seen it? I’ve seen it. You’ve seen the shorts? They’re those neon, like, artificial bait-colored [shorts], and the wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don’t look! You’re not allowed to look.”

      Levy posted an
      Instagram Reel
on Sunday night reacting to Gillis’ monologue in disbelief. “Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists,” Levy began. “There’s a difference there. By the way, I’ve seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve ever seen women showing their bodies off.”

Levy continued, “But I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television. And to be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it because it’s complacency that has created the environment in which women are sexually assaulted and it’s a ‘conversation’ as opposed to a ‘crime.’”

Saw this thread and expected something horrible, but after having watched it I’m really struggling to see what all the fuss is about.

    10. Dudes like Shane and Mark say shit like this but in the same breath try to distance themselves from the manoshpere just enough to be like “oh I don’t actually believe that, it’s just funny”.

      🙄🙄🙄
When will these people get their priorities straight. Holding comedians more accountable than the actual president of the United States is fucking baffling.

    12. Legitimate-Public-56 on

So wait, Gillis got booted from SNL cast because they found a video of him making racist and homophobic jokes, yet he keeps coming back to host the show. There’s definitely something not right here.

    13. Valuable-Fan-3226 on

I thought the best part of the opening monologue was him not getting a pop after name dropping Theo and Rogan. Lol

    14. UnbanFreelanceNobody on

Shane Gillis is hilarious for the 40 year old demographic that peaked in 10th grade

    15. This dude calls Michelle Obama “Big Mike” and then shrinks away from questions about a fighter repeating that refrain on national television on the White House lawn.

He rolls with MAGA chuds while claiming to be a centrist, but overwhelmingly ripping on Democratic politicians and ideas while downplaying or ignoring Republican bullshit.

Absolute scumbag. Blows my mind people think he’s easygoing purely because of his demeanor.

    16. He didn’t have me clutching my pearls. but every screen-minute he had sent me questioning how he got on stage. Are there really that many people that think this is funny?

    17. I’m surprised that people are still surprised by this behavior. People need to open their eyes and understand that the American viewing public has degraded in taste to the point where “comedy” like this is genuinely successful. This stuff wouldn’t keep happening if people weren’t out there eating it up.

    18. Ashamed-Isopod-2624 on

Boy this one sure dragged all the misogynists out of the woodwork huh

    19. IcyPomegranate4973 on

The problem with the monologue and this part in particular is that it wasn’t funny. It wasn’t even really a joke. It had no punchline and it wasn’t shocking enough to be shock humor. It was just an observation that was told in an offensive way. That’s bad attempt at comedy!

    20. crythinklaugh on

Well, Lorne Michaels has always had a „no tolerence“ rule for saying that word, so he definitely will not be back. Not funny anyway. Going on SNL and dropping Joe Rogans name. Asshole. Good riddance.

    21. Electrical_Pay_737 on

I’m a fat lady who does to the gym so I cover up. I wear baggy shirts and sweatpants, and even I think Shane’s “comedy” was bad

Putting aside the gender politics, as far as comedy goes, it’s just stupid. It sounded more like it was written by a grouchy old grandpa who wanted to try stand up comedy for the first time

    22. jizzlevania on

It’s was simply unfunny because women have been wearing tiny stuff to the gym for decades and dudes have always leered and taken it as an invitation. The reason he thinks it’s new, is because he’s new to going to the gym.

But also, he’s simply not funny. He’s an unattractive douchebro who literally had to name-drop Joe Rogan and another guy to give himself credibility. As soon as she said their names it just took the already low energy right out of the room. I guess his appeal is to other unfunny guys who have told two good jokes over the last five years.

    23. At least one man needs to stop standing up, and it’s Shane. His monologue was awful and poorly executed.

    24. Sea-me-later7039 on

A lady I work with said she had to unfollow a colleague because every post was a gym selfie with a visible camel toe included.

She’s right about the consistence of the imagery. And I think she is entitled to a preference. So if it isn’t her openness and honesty that makes her misogynistic? It must be because of something else and I’m trying to work out what it is.

    25. LovelessDogg on

They literally have been kicking women out of gyms that don’t dress appropriately so it’s not like he’s lying suddenly.

    26. whobringsafamilyvan on

It’s just a lazy joke. He could have made the observation .. but all he did was call them whores.
      Lazy and stupid..
