**The Telegraph reports:** China is stepping up its border security to prevent the potential spread of the Russian plague.
Disease control agencies in north-eastern parts of the country have begun issuing safety alerts and calling emergency meetings to discuss a plan of action after a researcher died at a Siberian anti-plague laboratory.
