Gotta join those ranks sigh.
only? that’s quite sad
Putting it in USD without context may seem stupidly low to Americans.
I’m in there paying taxes like 3 or 4 average people 🫡
Now u know , that why not many westerners work in Japan, they pay low wages, why want to work in Japan when Swiss pay higher wages and better conditions,
So just under 200,000 earn more than 25M Ye.
Japan has 1.75x more people than UK. In the UK there’s 1.3M people earning more than 125,000 GBP (a bit more than 25M Yen now) and 470,000 earning more than 200,000 (~30M Yen at old exchange rate of 150yen from 5yrs ago).
10 mil in Inaka is probably ok. But, only 10 mil in central Tokyo with wife and kids is borderline poverty.
Is this before or after deductions and taxes?
There are about 33 million employed, so about 1 in 10 makes this much. For contrast, 1 in about 6 or 7 workers in the US make 100k or more. Skewed
Honestly if the yen can make it back to around 110 – 120, with the „wage gain“ they’ll be fine. But again I thought this cheap yen was a 2 year deal, so maybe it is doomer time
I’m confused it only totals 51 million people? What happened to the other 72 million?
I find those salaries so damn low regardless.
I earn 3M a year, 3 kids, taxes, rent, utilities, food. I have 155 yen left in my bank account until the next payday. Ah, life in Japan is sweet.
