Shockerrr, hilarious that this sell-out was ever on a list to become president

Never forget: Newsom works for the filthy rich Epstein class, not for the rest of us.

    4. For those in California you have to vote yes on 40 and no on 41 and 42, those will cancel out the 40 billionaire tax if passed.

    5. Steel-Tempered on

Does anyone actually expect rich people to raise their own taxes? This is why you don’t vote for rich people.

    6. Not defending him because I don’t agree with him on this issue but he’s gone on record numerous times saying he agrees with a billionaire tax at the federal level but not at a state level.

      Reddit unfortunately abandons nuance

      >“I understand the anxiety driving the wealth tax proposal in California. But I’m voting no because this measure dedicates almost all of the revenue it raises to a single category of state spending,” Newsom wrote.

      >In his Friday announcement, Newsom offered a counterproposal, a new national tax policy, rather than a state-by-state system. He proposed a minimum tax on anyone with a net worth above $100m. He also wants to make it illegal for the wealthy to borrow against their stock portfolios to fund their luxury lifestyles tax-free.

      >He also said the US government should own a stake in artificial intelligence companies, a policy that Vermont senator Bernie Sanders has also advocated for in recent months.

y’all need to sober up and stop pitting Democrats against one another. this is how the Republicans win.

slow down. stay focused. read multiple sources.

Is this a proposed amendment to the California constitution?

Because if not, then it’s completely impossible to ban future wealth taxes. That’s simply not how it works.

This is how you know taxing billionaires would fix most of our problems. They’ll pay out 10 billion if it’ll save them a penny.

    10. Trolling Trump aside, I already wasn’t a fan. His policies on the homeless are atrocious.

    11. For those not in California and unfamiliar with why ALL the unions except the SEIU are against it, it is because it would reduce state revenue by 1B a year, and would raise only 10B once with 90% of it going to an SEIU slush fund. It’s incredibly corrupt and do not be surprised when it doesn’t pass.

I say this as someone who is very very invested in taxing wealth, however the way we can best do that in California is repealing prop 13, at the very least for corporations and second/third/rental homes.

I always feel the concept of bans on this sort of thing is so fucking stupid. If the political will exists to pass another wealth tax, then the political will exists to repeal the ban. Hell they can probably do both in the same bill.

This will kill his chances of ever being president. Nobody wants a centrist do-nothing schmuck. I sort of liked him for a while, but people in the middle of the road usually just get run over. I wonder what he will do when his time is done as governor there.

This dude made govt employees return to office and among his reasons why and this is an actual quote “to find love”

Just because he stands against Trump doesn’t make him a good politician or a man of the people.

    16. Intelligent-Owl-1838 on

It’s NOT right vs left. GOP vs DNC. It’s top vs bottom. Ultra wealthy vs doing great and lower. Class warfare. Eat the billionaires.

And big fat fuck you Gavin. Traitor to humanity not the monstrous wealthy.

    17. Pepperidge farm remembers people not from California glazing newsom. As a native to this state, fuck him.

    18. suspect_toothpaste on

Oh, he’s done as far as 2028 is concerned. Throw that garbage in the bag…

    19. Defiant_Wolf5934 on

Gavin Newsom is just a corporate shill democrat. He’ll advocate for social advocacy issues, like gay marriage, transgender rights, prison reform, but when it comes to tackling income inequality, he is a company man through and through. He is not the man for the moment. Fuck him.

    20. relentless_fuckery on

I will never forgive the Democratic Party if they run this corporate shit lib in 2028.

    21. NorthShorthern on

Hopefully this destroys any remaining call for him to run for president. Fuck this shitbag.

    22. Red_Eye_Insomniac on

Gavin Newsom is a piece of shit, and a great example of why people hate corporate Democrats.

    23. Average-spectacle on

Please Dems, don’t tag this guy to run in 2028. It would just be more business as usual bullshit while working class Americans continue to get trampled into the dirt.

    24. jayfeather31 on

And here’s yet another reason why this guy cannot be the Democratic nominee in 2028.

    25. This man, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries are on the Mount Rushmore of Democrats who talk a big game, but in reality, are taking the same money from the same people that run the current administration

They just say enough things on cultural items to try and appear different

    26. Stunning_Lychee7501 on

This is why he should never be president. His team mean tweeting at Trump doesn’t mean his policy is any good.

    27. Conscious_Bug5408 on

There is no clearer example of why being anti trump isn’t the same thing as being pro middle/working class
