I find it hard to believe the greens are that under
But then again we could be entering the strategic voting stage of the campaign

As an Ontarian, I like 80% want Eby to win but 20% of me would really enjoy watching an opportunistic election like this blow up in someone’s face for once.

There is certainly a lot to be said if this is the case. Possibly the greatest self own in BC political history?
All I know is Eby *should* leave immediately after the election regardless of victory or defeat

Not sure about the polling methodology here. It seems like Angus Reid asked respondents to pick between four options: the Conservatives, the NDP, the Greens, and „other part[ies].“ Both OneBC and CentreBC have had a decent bit of traction in other polls, and they were notably not named here. I suspect the poll would look closer if they were named as options.

I think the craziest part of all this is it could be such a massive backfire because despite the BC Conservatives dysfunction, Eby is just really not liked at all.
At this point, the NDP are committing campaign malpractice. I don’t want the Conservatives to win this, I think that party would have trouble managing a Walmart let alone the entire province but at the same time the audacity of the NDP here is insane at best.

Worst possible time for the country should BC and Alberta wingnuts join forces and sabotage us all (themselves included).

For anyone intending to „punish“ the NDP for calling an early election, either by not voting or voting against them:
1. You’re not effecting any change in behaviour. Sure it may have been unsportsmanlike for Eby to call an election when he did, but it’s kind of a moot point when there’s no sportsmanship in the sport to begin with. Conservatives would’ve done the same if the situation was reversed: Rustad wanted to force an election at the earliest opportunity immediately after the last election, and at the federal level Poilievre wanted to take advantage of Liberals when they were in disarray before Carney came on board.
2. The US should serve as a cautionary tale of what happens when voters act to punish their usual party of choice. There were a number of Democrat voters in both 2016 and 2024 who were disaffected because their ideal candidate wasn’t picked or the primary process was botched/didn’t happen. Democrats who stayed at home or voted against their interests contributed to Trump getting elected.
I understand that some people feel there may be meaningful and substantive reasons to not vote NDP. My point here isn’t to argue against those reasons. Rather, I’m simply pointing out that voting to inflict „punishment“ on the party you may normally otherwise vote for is neither meaningful nor substantive, and you may end up with a party that works against your interests.

It would be helpful to know the distribution of votes and if the Greens have a good chance of holding the balance of power.

I appreciate that the odds are essentially 0, but it would be hilarious if this resulted in a Bob Rae type situation and the Greens ended up forming government.

It gives me the shivers to imagine the Conservatives could come to power in BC given some of the openly vile people in their ranks. WTF.

Interesting to see how the BC electorate is very much on board with punishing Eby for this failure of a political move.
