That’s almost the same as what my wife was told in Nottingham.
„If you don’t push, I’m going to have to cut you“ I suppose is at least a little more moderated

I’ve heard stories not too dissimilar to this from many friends and relatives who have given birth. You’d really think midwives would be the most compassionate but they’re often the worst part of women’s birth stories.

So she was a midwife for 22 years without incident then all of a sudden began being a bitch to patients. That’s odd to me, either she’s being an asshole for a long time but it’s gone unreported or downplayed or something was going on with her. I get what she meant by cut it sounds like she might be foreign and meant c-section but the comments were unprofessional and not ensuring adequate pain relief is unacceptable.

Now i can only imagine her saying this in a Jason Statham type scene..

I had the worst experience at the PRUH labour ward, I’m not surprised at all and this was the type of attitude I experienced from every midwife and obstetrician. Only the paediatrician was the one who treated me like a human.

This is absolutely horrifying. My episiotomy was traumatic enough and that was with a team of midwives who were absolutely lovely and made sure to explain to me what they needed to do and why it was necessary for baby’s health. There was a sense of urgency in my delivery where I wasn’t really pushing hard enough (due to exhaustion) and baby was in distress and the midwife had to be clear with me that I was going to need to push harder, but she said it in a compassionate and encouraging way and I was able to get my son out safe. I can’t imagine the terror that this poor woman went through.

We found older generation midwife’s devoid of compassion, younger ones amazing. Maybe the story is where the profession does to you.

Surely it’s said in jovial jest like shoulder bump, cant imagine anyone has made it to that point in their career and been that genuinely evil

My midwife for my first kept telling me to push harder like I just wasn’t trying. I was three days in to labour at this point, exhausted and I WAS damn well pushing.
When she finally got a doctor to check it turned out that she (baby) was coming face first (having gradually turned from posterior presentation over the three days of slow labour she twisted her head awkwardly). I was not going to be able to push her out!
When the doctor said I can stop pushing and he would sort it I swear he was the best man on the entire planet to me at that moment.

Hang on, this is what i was told when i was 5 hours into labour, it was 5am and i was falling asleep between contractions. Thought this was just normal

Having read the report just now I think not engaging with the attempts to work to conditions of her “temporary” suspension to reflect and retrain her brain to be a more compassionate person didn’t do her any favours. She basically gave up and didn’t need to lose her job had she had just done a few notable things to show she’s able to move forward after doing something wrong.

I had 2 fantastic midwives one of them saved my baby’s life when she was born grey and not breathing.
The first one did have to cut me because my baby’s head was stuck. I thought it was quite a common thing.

Jesus I think this is the same vile midwife I had when I gave birth to my son! I was howling in agony and she said ‘somebody get me a gun’. I shit you not.
