I just love how liberals automatically assume everyone who criticizes the state supports MAGA and Trump.

im curious, if you removed the movie/television and music industry from california how big of an impact would that make? considering most major blockbusters put out seem to bring in 40 quadrillion dollars and it seems like most american musicians move to LA i imagine thats why the state is so big?

Would California’s economy be as big as it is if get were not part of the USA? Like not now, but ever. The USA would have had to develop other ways to import the stuff that normally comes through California, and the agriculture that’s in California would potentially have been shifted to other areas as well, so it’s just a neat thought experiment.
Where does USA minus CA rank? I understand it’s trivial that the whole US has a bigger economy because CA is part of the US
Something to note:
While California does benefit from having companies like Apple in it, not all of Apple’s revenue counts towards California’s GDP. If Apple sells an iPhone in Kentucky, that counts towards Kentucky’s GDP. If they sell an iPhone in india, that counts towards India’s gdp.
I see people on reddit often not know this point.
The GNP of California, counting the economic output of California companies would probably be 3rd in the world and would be substantially larger than the GDP.
Maybe there are a few countries having lower GDP than the house Elon lives. That doesn’t mean anything.
