China’s spy chief just said ai could mess with the party’s grip on power. Wants tighter control to block foreign hacks and keep things stable at home. different from the usual runaway ai fears.
He pointed at US models like claude mythos as direct threats. makes those upcoming talks with trump look tricky since they see it all as competition not shared problem.

It’s interesting that the more advanced the models get, the more independent they seem to become. Could ultimately be what holds back China from being able to compete with the US in this race
