      Means fuck all tbh

There’s nothing meaningful he can do without crossing Labour’s ‘red lines’

      Everything else is just peanuts.

I swear the self-wankery about the UK’s supposed ‚isolation‘ over the last week because of the Canada news (when the UK already is basically an ‚Associate EU‘ state and Labour has spent the last several years trying to get even closer to the EU) has been driving me nuts 🙄.

Not that discourse about UK-EU relations on reddit makes the slightest bit of sense half the time.

Better for the UK to try and balance it’s relationship with the EU and the US. The worry for us is that it’s all too easy for a wide-eyed naive politician to drag the country too strongly in one direction. From the EU we can focus on co-operating on areas like the economy, science, energy, regional politics and security etc, but with the US we need to co-operate strongly in terms of global politics and security, the military (AUKUS/Mutual Defence Agreement), financial services and entertainment.

To be honest I don’t really see what we plan to achieve with our restrictive red lines the truly
meaningful benefits are locked behind most of the things the government is dead set against.

Ain’t going to happen. Because it invites others to leave and still get the benefits of membership.

Labour is parroting the same meaningless sentence for years.

Still refusing to commit to something, still wanting to play both sides.

The EU should stop taking them seriously. Hopefully in the future they have to do a coalition with LibDems and/or Greens and are forced to decide if they push Rejoin or become the leftist Brexit party.
