What a politician says and what they do are often two things entirely.

The abolition of the Lords will have to go _through_ the Lords.

Doesn’t really seem like a contradiction? Most politicians probably wish the system worked differently in one way or another, doesn’t mean they can’t participate in it in its current form as best they can.
The current plan as I understand it is to make the house of lords 100% non-hereditary.

Fuck that rag. It never fails to put a negative spin on Kahn. Kahn being in the HoL will make it easier to abolish it. Without abolitionists within the HoL it will not be possible to do as they are the body that passes HoC laws.

It is just like the Scottish Labour leader getting a lordship despite said leader leading Labour to their worst performance ever. Our political establishment seems to reward incompetence. Not to in anyway compare Anas to Sadiq, Sadiq has done far more for the labour party than Anas Sarwar.
Always against the Lords until you find yourself getting a lordship and suddenly being OK with it. They also act as bribes, the only person who should be able to issue lordships is the king for exceptional service, not as a bribe towards the end of a PMs tenure.
There’s only one acceptable path for the House of Lords long term, which is to make it technocratic and bar politicians, donors, and the rest of the munch bunch. The People’s Peers commission is in charge of choosing quality non-partisan life peers and only 67 members (and just 2 a year now) have actually been chosen for their achievements. All Labour has done so far is swap hereditary peers for more crony peers, they should’ve handed all these decisions to an independent panel.
As long as he keeps his view that the House of Lords should be abolished then I don’t see an issue with this.
Keep the Lords, but reform it. Get rid of the bishops at least
It’s role is to scrutinise legislation. Tbh you do need people with knowledge of said processes to properly scrutinise it. But it should be detached from party allegiance here too in my opinion.
Otherwise it’ll just pass any legislation anyway regardless if it has a party majority matching the gov

There isn’t necessarily any hypocrisy. You do the best that you can within a system, even if you believe that it needs serious reform.
