Kavanaugh concurring in that he believes that the case is at least worth discussing but that its too close to the election to insist on changes for this year.

Scary how close the US is to becoming another Russia or China. 2 supreme court justices that will just rubber stamp whatever EO Trump put out. A few younger conservative judges with the slightest semblance of a spine is how close the US is to the edge.

Alito and Thomas being the dissent as expected. Kavanaugh should not be applauded for his no vote. He said the restrictions were fine by him but that there wasn’t enough time for the states to implement them and that’s why he was a no.
They’ll reverse course the Friday before the elections.

The conservatives on this court literally invented the major questions doctrine* out of thin air, so how the fuck is Alito going to argue that USPS has congressional authority by statute to regulate elections when this whole case is over an executive order. Alito is 100% a piece of shit partisan hack that doesn’t belong on the bench of a traffic court let alone the Supreme Court.

I will never say that Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett are non-partisan, good-natured, or anything close to that. They vote exactly how Republicans wants them to the majority of the time. What surprised me though was how often they actually do vote in a sane way with actual legal arguments, much like this recent judgement.
I assumed they would just be complete partisan hacks who would completely bow down to the MAGA movement (like Trump’s current cabinet).
I mean, not being complete psycho sycophants is a pretty low fucking bar, but it is surprising considering other Trump chosen people.
If Trump was to chose those three spots in this second term though, they’d make Alito and Thomas look like liberals.
Who would have thought in, this day and age, the United States Postal Service would be a bastion of Democracy.
