I don’t know about the rest of population, but I’m from Brazil, I don’t drink much coffee actually none at all, but I do drink mate, which I guess is not technically tea (C. sinensis).

It feels a bit of a generational thing here in the UK, most younger people tend to drink coffee over tea (I have no stats to back this up, purely anecdotal).
Tea and coffee just aren’t interchangeable imo. Their caffeine content is totally different. When I drink coffee, it’s to give me energy. When I drink tea, it’s just because of the flavor and it refreshes me. I’m not going to wake up in the morning at 5 am and crack open a box of tea to wake me up, I need to slam a cup of black coffee as soon as possible to wake up my body. Tea is like, hanging out on break and I want something that’s not sweet or just water
Iced tea is huge in the United States, it’s certainly more popular than ordering tea outside of the house is in Australia.
