This is a really strange story from the WRC.
How do you lose 200 k on a bar in four months without extensive renovation.
Without extensive renovations how is that possible?

Does anyone from Celbridge know what is going on here? It is a very strange story. I just cant get my head around.

I don’t think it was a single pub if im reading it correctly, its Darren Feehan Bars Ltd a company that lost 200k in four months, not just one bar they had.
We’ll get the old reliable about it’s the it’s the brewery but you never hear any push back about price increases from Publicans. Priced themselves out of the market and people have been telling them for years. Feel sorry for the cleaner though.

Fraud
If it’s the pub I’m thinking of, it has had like 5 different owners at this point.
I remember being a trainee accountant in a country practice, I got to work on some business acquisitions like this.
My boss was always very clear. Start a new company, buy the assets from the sellers company, never take over the existing business, just purchase the assets.
My job was to make sure the assets were provably owned and not financed and to make sure anything owed to any staff was handled before the sale was finalised.
This fella didn’t have professional advice, or at least not good advice.
I get that there can be licensing bureaucracy, but much better to go through the hoops to transfer to the new company.
