    1. Google search interest in GLP-1s has been steadily rising in the US, while interest in keto and fasting has generally declined. By 2026, GLP-1 had clearly overtaken both as a weight-loss-related search trend.

This is a good thing honestly. Diet and exercise are better for you and are free, but it’s better to have a healthy population than to expect everyone to diet and exercise. That takes a level of commitment that people at large (heh) simply won’t do.

I went to my doctor and essentially before she mentioned diet and excercise she mentioned GLP1s. Like I get it but also I haven’t even begun diet and excercise. I need to take care of mental health first

    4. Probably because fasting and keto doesn’t actually work for people all that well and GLP-1 does.

    5. Over the last four months, I have found that not eating like a pig between 9pm and 11pm works wonders for me.

    6. Because GLP-1 actually works long term, unlike diets alone.
Moreover, GLP-1 is not working by itself. It allows you to follow the diet and exercise more.

GLP-1 isn’t magic past the initial weight loss, but it sure helps you find the motivation to revert your habits. It completely changed my life and I’m certain the second gen products will be wildly more effective than the current ones.

    8. Thank god, both fasting and keto are dumbass trends that harm as many as they help

Not surprising.  Doing the work is always harder than hitting the Big Red Easy Button.

Glp1 originally was for diabetics. I thank the weight loss trends as now it’s cheaper for me to help keep my blood sugar under control.

A calorie deficit is so simple. Eat smaller portions, move your body a little more

I love how the old diets spiked after every New Year resolution time. If any diets worked it would be a steady rise like GLP1 graph, instead of cycles of desperation and disappointment

Fantastic. Diets don’t seem to work for most people especially in the long run so I’m glad we finally have something to help those who struggle keeping a normal weight.

    14. It would be interesting to see the Venn diagram of people who didn’t want to take the COVID vaccines because they „aren’t safe“ and „don’t have long-term studies“ and those who asked their physician to give them GLP-1.

    15. Fasting appears to be a roughly steady with large yearly variations (e.g. january spikes, december nadirs). Keto is going out of fashion in general. I’d be interested to see GLP-1s against, say, exercise or more general health terms.

    16. I call it cheater juice for people who don’t need it and take it solely as a weight loss drug. It’s not gonna cure your unhealthy habits and it’s no substitute to diet and exercise. It’s supplementary to get you within a weight range to actively exercise yet people take it as a cure all. Can’t wait for comments from the experts that frequently take the glp1 to cheat weight when they don’t need it but are convinced that they do.

Is it okay if I’m doing all three? The GLP helps with my appetite and taste, which helps me not overeat and to eat healthier, so I’m not bloated and too lazy to exercise.

    18. I really hope this results in an overall healthier US population, which in turn could lower healthcare costs. As of now, I feel like we’re all paying through the nose for this through higher premiums. Fingers crossed for a better long term outcome

    19. I find it interesting that the new years resolution effect is clear in the diet trends, but extremely less pronounced on the glp1.  Great chart

    20. One of my family members that has struggled with their weight their whole life tried GLP-1 and made a drastic difference. Way more than was expected for the dosage and decided to not go higher even if it was planned from the beginning.

They have completely turned their life around, goes to the gym regularly, swim as exercise twice a week, eats healthier because they have energy to cook good food.

Drugs on their own don’t change a thing, however it can be the catalyst to be able to change your whole life.

Not to mention how hard everyone is pushing GLP-1’s. Constant media coverage, ads, word of mouth, and promotion of them.

    22. If „diet and exercise“ worked for most people, we wouldn’t have obesity pandemic.

No shit. Dieting is incredibly mentally taxing and therefore usually doesn’t stick.
