Why are you looking at data starting from 2023? Is there something specific about that year? In my opinion, we should look at the trends starting from the year the war began.

On the one hand, yeah this is not good for Russia. On the other hand, you can’t conclude that Ukraine will be able to keep fighting for centuries at this rate of advance. Because you lose a war the same way Ernest Hemingway once said he went bankrupt: „Gradually, then suddenly.“
Many wars grind on forever, until, suddenly one day, they don’t.

The success rates now are really not measured in the front lines but rather in the ability of each side to continue the conflict.
So a better way of looking at it is how each side is faring on the whole.

I think Russia is doing great work. Its Russia vs Ukraine on paper but in reality its russia vs Nato. Theres no way Ukraine could withstand Russian attacks the way they do.
Its absurd to think Ukraine is alone without outside resources in this conflict.

Ppls measuring this in km,when in reality the attrition is far more important, and unfortunately ru is slowly winning in this front bcs they have more manpower, so we hope for some drone advancements to stop this issue

Just 30 years and they will reach Dnipro.

Yeah, the Russians are celebrating tens of thousands of their own dead for bombed territory which will be unusable due to mines and shrapnel. I’m sure it will get good for the occupants, I’m sure they don’t regret anything

What’s fun is even the 2026 map is out of date and worse for Russia within the past week.
That little bit of red that pops into the green highlighted territory between ‘23 and ‘26 just got mopped up and cleared up after a huge counteroffensive effort. That specific adjustment essentially eliminated any gains at all by Russia since early 2025 in that region and dooms Russia’s chances of being able to take Lyman.

During the Iraq – Iran war the contact line never went beyond 100kms on either side. It lasted 8 years and more than 500.000 deaths; a UN brokered ceasefire was the final solution.
*(The war started with the Iraqi invasion prompted by the Americans in order to „change the regime“ in Iran)*

Russia doesn’t want/need to win the war, just like the U.S, they made a crisis, which in turn spiked the price of oil, which profits kremlin directly. It’s all about money (if it wasn’t clear enough)
Appropriate-Rip-4322 on
And it only cost them 500.000+ dead, a small price to pay in this war about nothing.
We shouldn’t underestimate that this basically implies “Russia is winning”. For Putin there’s no reason to stop if they’re making progress, regardless of how slow. He thinks he can continue the war for much longer than Ukraine so that will only encourage him more to continue. It’s a sad reality for Russians, once again there will be another entry in history of one of their leaders disregarding the lives of so many of their people.
