Why should there be when they can continue ripping us off and become richer and richer? Let’s talk about immigrants instead

Fedex are such criminals. I don’t think I’ve had it as extreme with any other carrier.

I just try to order Duties paid as much as possible.

I’ve bought stuff from outside the EU plenty before this new fee and I’d wager a similar admin fee is almost always charged by FedEx, ups, whoever. iirc it’s usually because the retailer doesn’t have the proper paperwork lined up, which would’ve been necessary prior to this additional admin charge coming into force. yeah it seems a bit arbitrary but somebody has to do some level of work to address it.

You can dispute these, as when you ordered thr goods – you had not instructed FedEx to act on your behalf to perform inport clearances. These admin/processing fees at these rates are chancers

No VAT? Or did the seller somehow collect VAT but not the import duty?

Or did they collect both VAT and import duty, and are you therefore paying the duty a second time here?

Just had it out with DPD over this shit, bought some work trousers from snickers.ie and they sent it through DPD who were looking for just under 50 euro in customs, gave them 3 options, getting a full refund when they arrive back

Use DHL. Their customer service is actually really good. You can speak to an actual human being.

      Fedex are the worst.

      – Government levies unnecessary taxation.

      – Government drives up processing cost for retailers and distributors.

„Please government, do something about it!“

      They’ll never understand.

At this stage I just don’t want the hassle with this stuff. Only order from the EU, check trustpilot.com in advance and check reviews and search for Ireland to get an idea if it’s actually coming from EU.

Id literally send it back and go again with someone else. Can you refuse it? It also sends a message to the co pany you bought it off as well.

Wow that is shocking! It echoes what that post about certain restaurants charging 4 euro on the return scheme on deliveroo.

Worst thing about it is its €3 per item. So if you get a t-shirt a phone cover and a pair of gloves its €9

      Edit: bad math.

    13. An Post are not far behind. Only yesterday had to pay €6 admin on a €3 fee.

This is a license to print free money for these companies

This is what you charge when you don’t want the hassle of the new rules.

    15. The law’s doing exactly what it was meant to do; take money out of your pocket and put it into a big wealthy corporation’s.

I got something from the States before and FedEx sent me an email saying „pay now“ and it was €26. I paid it – then a couple of weeks later they send me emails saying „You owe us €17.something! Pay up!“ with a different invoice than previously.

I told them I wouldn’t pay it. It was deceptive and their error, not mine. I paid what they asked before. They closed the case soon after and I never paid. Have had other negative experiences. They’re absolute chancers, and I’ll never use them willingly.
