Very excited to see this. Their initial rocket is cool, but the mass and payload volume would limit how many payloads they could launch. So it’s good to see that they were working on upgrades in the background.
A launch debut in 2029 doesn’t sound unrealistic. It’s a big stretch on the vehicle, but it’s using the same/modified engines and similar structures (looks a hair wider?). And they made a lot of milestones in the last few years on Nova (Pathfinder).
I suppose we’ll see if anyone else follows and commits to full reuse, or if launch providers will stick to partial reuse. I do want to see Relativity return to that.

Good for them, but yeah this is a far ways away. Rocketlab who has extensive facilities and experience with building rocket has been delaying neutron for a while now. Similarly New Glenn was 5 years late. I can’t imagine this flying before 2030-2035.

I wonder what they did to make the non-tapered 2nd stage reusable.

Still don’t quite believe their reusable 2nd stage will pan out in reality, but even with just 1st stage recovery it’d be a good platform. Hope they can pump it out in the timeframe they mention.

I’m really excited to see how the actively cooled heatshield works. It definitely has the potential to be more suitable for rapid reusability than a passive heatshield with ceramic tiles.
