    1. I really dislike supervalus red tags that are reward pricing but look identical to the discount pricing sticker. It annoyed me until I realised I could have a rewards card without registering. So basically pick up the barcode tags but don’t register so they can’t gather data but you can get the discount.

In fairness man if youre worried enough about spending a few euros more on your ship than you were expecting to, then you can afford to spend the extra second it takes to actually read the price tag properly

    3. THe Haribo pissed me off the most, They were selling them for 1.50 despite it saying 1.25 on the bag.

Then about two weeks ago the price jump to around 2.40 for a bag? But Real Rewards prive was 1.50? WTF changed in those few days that the price skyrocketed but was still the normal price with a club card?

I refuse to get a club card, i just dont buy the thing i used to anymore.

      It is a joke.

15 pack of Guinness with out the reward card, about 30 quid, with, 24.85, the same price as in dunnes with no card.

Every political party should put it in their manifesto that this stuff is illegal. It’s masking the real price of things for people and forcing us to handover our data.

I’m as prone as anyone else to making choices based on finances, and I’m sick of going to the shop to buy something simple and feeling conned into making bulk purchases all the time.

Aldi are the only ones not getting in on the act. And I don’t even mind the Dunnes system as it’s not ripping off people who don’t use the apps as much. And old people can still avail of the vouchers just using receipts.

Id feel bad for you if super is your only real oppurtunity to shop, otherwise move away from predatory clubscards tesco and super

I think a loyalty program is a good idea. Signup and save a significant amount on certain products.

It makes it more likely you’ll visit the same banch again and again, what’s wrong with that? Clever way to drum up repeat business 👍

Their offers regularly dont actually apply when youre actually paying too actively avoid them now

Supervalu have increased the price on their vouchers as well. Last year it was €5 off €25 spend, then it went to €35 spend, noticed last week its now gone to €45 spend.

    10. I was caught out at Supervalue only last week by this. I was more annoyed because I paid at the checkout and I was not even prompted to use my card by the cashier. As it was alcohol I didn’t use my value card because you can’t get points when buying alcohol. I was charged 16 quid for a bottle I thought was €8. So annoyed I nearly choked on it lol.

Hat tip to Aldi for not engaging with loyalty schemes or vouchers.

    12. Wait until all these reward cards that all the companies have start charging a 4.99 monthly fee to have the club card and get the savings. Before increasing it slightly every few years.

the freedom to choose is there. either pay the full price or give over your details and get it at a reduced price.
I accept that everythings gone up. imo there’s nothing can be done about it.😏😊

I pity older people on this one, I don’t think it’s fair to anyone but especially them. They aren’t often up to speed on apps and the likes and I don’t think they should be necessary when it comes to doing the basic shop. Hate this shite.

    15. EmergencyComment101 on

I dont know why anyone would ever step foot in a supervalue or tesco if they had a lidl or aldi nearby.

    16. SpareZealousideal740 on

Worst thing I find they do is leave old offers up or put up offers before they’re active. It’ll be some tiny writing at the bottom of one sign somewhere saying it but everything else will make it look like it’s there now

    17. crackduck18 on

it’s so frustrating for both customers and staff. i work on checkouts and i sympathise with the people who have to come back and return an item because they didn’t know it was a loyalty card price; and the original price isn’t in their budget. so many shops too are so bad for remembering to update price tags once the offer has expired, I really don’t blame customers for getting so annoyed

    18. ThereWillBeTrouble on

If you use rewards then they know what you buy and can better plan accordingly. Having their own reward card data collection system means they dont have to spend as much on market research etc AND they can sell that data to others. Data is the new oil. The incentive to save with this reward system is essentially to spy on you as a customer and gain insight into your wants. That has value whereas you as a customer dont really matter as the data can often be more profitable than the purchases you make.

    19. Because that’s the stock of price info cards that they had available for the printer?

I’m surprised there’s a store that is still using printed stuff and hasn’t switched to the e-ink displays.

    20. Far-Row-6492 on

Aldi and M&S are the only supermarkets without this nonsense
Don’t shop in M&S. it’s all just a gimmick so that can sell your data.

    21. Impressive-Smoke1883 on

And always always check if any savings are being not being honoured at the till, supernotvalue are fuckers for it.

    22. Legitimate-Celery796 on

There’s too much money to be made with our data, the fix here to to stop them from selling our data.

I hate that SV have gone down the same route as Tesco with this crap
