Das Pentagon hat endlich erkannt, wie einfach es für Gegner war, die Telefonstandortdaten stationierter Soldaten zu hacken

According to the article, the military has disabled built-in phone trackers; lawmakers argue that piecemeal device restrictions fail to address the broader broker marketplace. Going forward, they can analyze potential bans or restrictions on data brokers selling military personnel data or explore hardware privacy modifications and operational security protocols.
What? We have known this for a long time Blackouts are to prevent this we did this way back when I was in.
For those who don’t know blackouts are when everyone’s phone is taken and locked up in a place they cannot call out and if you get caught with one then you best find Jesus because you will need him.
Is “paying US data brokers” really hacking? Because that’s by far the easiest way to get it.
Dummies got played, our military has been defeated by the tech industry. Maybe it was on purpose.
Do the troops need to be messing around on their phones?
This reminds me of the two times US Navy ships collide with other countries boats. Unexplainable incidents.
The Tech industry did the military dirty. Welcome to the party boys. Russia, Azerbaijan and Israel are all openly using Hacked Cell Phone Data to plan air and drone strikes. Did the US Military think they were exempt?
You don’t need to hack anything to get this data. It’s for sale. There are software developer kits and real time bidding on ads that are both embedded in many of the apps you use every day. Restrict your smartphone location permissions and disable your mobile ad ID within your Settings app.
Isn’t this the same organization that’s led by a Fox News celebrity who tagged in a journalist into an unsecure Signal chat about a strike in Yemen?
Yes, yes it is.
My daughter works for a DoD organization and they had her remove the Life360 app from her phone. We used to use it to track her while she drove back and forth to college (8.5 hr drive).
Almost like firing all the adults in the room with experience was a bad idea.
It is going to take a long time to fix all they have done.
This isn’t new information lmao. We’ve known this for YEARS.
Clearly the only solution is to force all active duty to use one brand of vetted phone
oh and look it’s gold plated for uhh… Security
We are gonna be so clowned on in the future. If its going this badly against Iran, in a first strike, at our most ready, I dread to think what will happen when it’s a response to a Chinese push on Taiwan, once the patriots are gone.
I’m pretty sure this is covered in one of our annual trainings and not new.
American exceptionalism … the dumb leading the ignorant.
I think what happened is the Pentagon got caught, not caring.
Regulate data brokers. My privacy is my own. It should not take a national security event to realize this.
Logging my flight deck workout to Strava so I can share with friends/family/influencers for clout…
WCGW?
