      **Submission statement:**

**AI futurist Ray Kurzweil has officially joined Subsense**, a Palo Alto-based neurotechnology startup, as a **product and vision advisor**. [[1](https://www.therundown.ai/news/ray-kurzweil-subsense-nanoparticle-brain-interface), [2](https://news.mediabroker.org/article/subsense-just-recruited-ai-s-most-famous-futurist-to-sell-a-brain-interface-you-snort)]

The four-year-old startup has raised **$27 million in funding** and is developing a non-surgical **brain-computer interface (BCI) system** that relies on nanoparticles administered intra-nasally—essentially inhaled like a nasal spray. [[1](https://app.dealroom.co/news/feed/ray-kurzweil-joins-subsense-developing-nasal-nano-particle-brain-computer-interface-after-27m-funding), [2](https://startupfortune.com/ray-kurzweil-joins-subsense-the-brain-interface-startup-you-snort/)]

      🧠 How the Technology Works

Unlike Elon Musk’s Neuralink, which requires drilling into the skull to implant chips, Subsense aims for a completely non-invasive alternative. [[1](https://startupfortune.com/ray-kurzweil-joins-subsense-the-brain-interface-startup-you-snort/)]

**Nasal Delivery:** Engineered (plasmonic and magnetoelectric) nanoparticles are introduced through the nose, where they cross the blood-brain barrier to reach targeted brain regions. [[1](https://startupfortune.com/ray-kurzweil-joins-subsense-the-brain-interface-startup-you-snort/)]

**The Wearable Cap:** Users wear a specialized hardware headset/cap equipped with magnetic coils. **Neural Reading & Stimulation:** The external cap interacts with the nanoparticles to read neural signals and stimulate brain activity without any surgical incisions. 🚀 Current Timeline & Applications

The company’s technology is still in its infancy and has not yet left the lab. [[1](https://uk.news.yahoo.com/ai-visionary-ray-kurzweil-joining-190218297.html), [2](https://news.mediabroker.org/article/subsense-just-recruited-ai-s-most-famous-futurist-to-sell-a-brain-interface-you-snort)]

**Preclinical Stage:** Subsense is currently conducting early-stage testing and experiments on mice.

**Human Trials:** The startup targets clinical pilots and human trials between **2027 and 2029**.

**Initial Targets:** Initial medical applications are focused on treating severe neurological conditions, specifically **Parkinson’s disease and ALS**. The long-term goal is to transition the tech into a commercial consumer product. 🔮 Kurzweil’s Role and Vision

Kurzweil—famous for predicting the „Singularity“ where humans and machines merge—will guide Subsense’s long-term technology roadmap. At a company event, Kurzweil reiterated his ultimate goal to **“merge the smartphone with the brain“**. [[1](https://natlawreview.com/press-releases/ai-visionary-ray-kurzweil-joins-subsense-product-and-vision-advisor), [2](https://startupfortune.com/ray-kurzweil-joins-subsense-the-brain-interface-startup-you-snort/)]

While critics view the high-profile hire as a clever branding strategy to build credibility for a highly experimental science, Subsense CEO Tetiana Aleksandrova noted that advances in AI and nanoscience are finally turning Kurzweil’s decades-old predictions into real scientific questions. That’s called cocaine. People have been doing it for a long time

    3. Nanobots crossing the blood brain barrier seems like more of a weapon technology

    4. When cookers thought Bill Gates was hiding nanobots in vaccines they were burning 5G towers. Call it AI and it’s suddenly commercially attractive

    5. Schizophrenics are about to have the biggest „I Fucking told you so“ in history

This is great. Cocaine just makes you hyper and gives you some effects you can’t really control. With this you can actually tweak some settings. It’s cocaine on cocaine 😎

This seems like one of those future tech scams to grift millions off of “optimistic” people. Kind of like Elon’s absurd promises to colonize Mars. I at least want to see some proof-of-concept. Color me HIGHLY skeptical.

    8. Everybody here is making jokes, but in all seriousness Ray Kurzweil has been forecasting this shit for nearly 30 years. Super nice guy. I agree with the direction he sets in both of his Singularity books. Otherwise humans get left in the dust.
