You need to pay the price for those 45,000 American troops stationed in your country that are keeping you free from North Korea; you can’t be a free rider forever. The least you can do is support the US in the Iran war, add jobs/GDP in America, build ships in America, build chip factories, and get involved in the Ukraine War. Those are the minimums that South Korea needs to do to become a dependable ally. In return, America will keep your tariffs at 15%, keep those American troops in South Korea, and won’t side with North Korea.

# How Trump can help Ukraine build its own Patriot missiles

>South Korea claims it is legally precluded from selling arms to countries at war. Well, it is currently selling these interceptors to a country at war — the United Arab Emirates. In June, South Korea and the UAE launched an emergency airlift to speed delivery of M-SAM II batteries to protect Dubai against Iranian missile strikes. Ukraine is also in immediate need of protection against missile strikes, but South Korea won’t sell it the same interceptors. That’s outrageous.

>Trump is already rightly furious with South Korea for refusing to assist in the Strait of Hormuz. There would be no better way for Seoul to fix that relationship than to make a stopgap transfer to Kyiv and thereby take the pressure off the U.S. to provide Ukraine with interceptors.

>Moreover, it is in South Korea’s interests to do so. Many of the missiles raining down on Kyiv are made in North Korea, which has sent missile launch teams to fight alongside Russia. Seoul should be jumping at the opportunity to test its interceptors against North Korean missiles.

>This is an opportunity for South Korea to step up and prove itself a dependable ally. Surely, Trump — the consummate dealmaker — can find a way to bridge the gap. And he should work with the U.S. defense industry to license Ukraine to build its own Patriot interceptors.
