As far as color grading, I feel like the poles are too close in color here. At least on mobile, the black does not stick out that well in contrast to the dark red, which demarcate the opposite ends of your scale.

Is this not just a map of places with reservations… thats quite upsetting. Gonna shout out NJ and Mass though, consistently proving how education really does make a place better

Let’s go Massachusetts!
I am a psychiatrist currently in MA and I can say this is at least in part because MA does a MUCH better job than other states I’ve lived in at making sure people in mental health emergencies go to the hospital, not jail. Of course it still happens unfortunately, but I have been really impressed here with the services for severely mentally ill folks and homeless folks. The social support system is MUCH stronger than any other state I’ve ever lived in.

They are wrong about Wyoming.
There are only 80 people in the entire state, and only 20 of them are women. 😁🤣

Wow, Florida Woman looks fairly tame.
What’s going on in the purple states that leads to such a high female imprison rate?
Edit: „purple“ is actually dark red / maroon.
I mean the actual color, not politically.
Now overlay this with political leaning, I promise, you won’t be shocked at the results.
Yep definitely not disproportionately aimed at Native American/Indigenous women… sheesh.
Does this map look the same as overall incarceration rate?
Red states states like to incarcerate women. Florida impresses with its relative correlation to the map
Shit holes and Arizona? What is going on in Arizona?
For anyone wondering:
