    1. The confederacy can be remembered in History without erecting statues to their war. It can be remembered for trying to secede from the country, for fighting to keep slavery intact, for trying to say that the practices of any one state outweigh the practices of an elected federal government, for oh so many things. Those things should be taught. Not immortalized in statues celebrating their loss on the battle field and in the hearts of most Americans.
