I’m betting next Carney releases an offer that doesn’t match up at all. Each side will show us an offer that matches their story, with no way to tell which one is telling the truth, other than their track record to date.
I mean weve already gotten some details about the deal. Americans are clearly not mentioning all the shit they tried to shove into the almost-finalized deal to blow it up at the last minute.
Like nixing the french language or controlling our trade partners.
They wanted to see what was the most they could get. Or, Trump and his insiders are shorting something Canadian on Monday. Americans already own lots of stock in Canadian companies so there is a limit to what they can get away with from their own Millionaires.
Canada has managed to strike deals, MOUs, etc. with over 20 countries in the past year. Trying to gaslight Canadians, American’s and the world as us being unreasonable or unwilling to negotiate should be called out directly.
The EU, Japan, South Korea – remember them having to correct US claims about trade deals struck? The US is not a credible source, even when there is a deal.
I would sooner believe that the sky is purple before I would lend absolutely any credibility to the Trump Administration when there are several sources from both countries outlining the fact that the United States had a desire to control our trade deals with other countries and also wanted to make changes to our Canadian Content policies and the French language.
Greer can gaslight all he wants but considering Trump is about to get absolutely annihilated in the midterms I would personally focus on some victories at home before imposing economic attacks on their allies.
The United States current administration has a history of trying to rewrite history, to promote did/misinformation so whatever they are going to say is to be taken with a very suspicious mindset.
Considering that the US is withdrawing from every international legal framework, I would be inclined to say that what they say is total bullsh*t!
At this point, the US could publish a written transcription of the entire negotiation on White House letterhead, and my initial assumption would be that it was an outright fabrication rather than anything of substance.
lol not even remotely true. Gotta lie through his teeth to keep the Mad King happy. Well, let’s face it, Trump is so emotionally and psychologically damaged he can never been happy. Maybe keep him mollified for a news cycle.
A possibility I haven’t seen yet discussed is that the trade delegation from the US is actively lying to Trump about the details of the negotiations to take advantage and induce further populist and isolationist narratives.
I am beginning to see that Trump doesn’t actually know what’s going on and just goes off of the headlines that people feed him.
The American team thinks that Canada agreeing to a deal means that the US could should have asked for more, and so they do.
That is fine, the Republicans can eat shit from the border states during the midterms because of it.
US media just parrots Trump talking points. pretty sad that there is little independent media and investigative journalism left in the US. most outlets are owned by tech billionaires co-opted by Trump. look at WaPo. NYT is not much better these days.
