Also the Americans insisting, last minute, to control what trade deals Canada can or cannot enter into with 3rd countries had something to do with it.

Another misleading headline. It was *one of many* key reasons, not *the single* key reason. The other key reasons included last-minute changes to the coverage of tariff reductions (e.g., medium and heavy-duty trucks produced in Ontario, and Canadian content of vehicles), and our ability to enter into trade agreements with third countries.
It was very obviously not *the* key reason. The headline seems to be forgetting the last minute attempt by Nudnik to cut off our trade with other countries.
