Now we just have to hunker down for the war of attrition.
This is just one battle, but this could be long and drawn out.
The trick wasn’t chickening out for the negotiation, the trick is to not give in first. That’s going to be harder.

Best time for any country with us treasury bonds to begin dropping them. Japan did it last year and in response they have mostly been left alone since. If every country which had this leverage began to use it the US would blink first. Money talks.

This would be a great time to announce cancellation of the F35s beyond those already committed to, and order a whole bunch of Gripens instead.

As Carney said today, we have the resolve, and we have the reserves. We have diversified our trade. We are about to begin work on a massive and transformative energy project. We have more FDI now than before. We are better than we were last year.
All while the US is marching itself off a cliff.
While I worry about so many things, including the geopolitical shifts still to come due to the actions of the US administration, one thing I’m not worried about is us exiting these negotiations. They were never in good faith.
