      I wonder if the police were trying to stop the vehicle and this was the outcome…… if so how do you stop this trend of scum driving the wrong way ?

      Rip to all, especially the two police officers who lost their lives doing their jobs. I hope the other five deceased, said to be in their late teens were accidentally driving down the wrong way, if not, I’m at a loss to even know what to say. So many unessecary deaths.

      The various state police in the US have different methods to ending pursuits. Years ago Arizona started using a special grappler bumper with a nylon net that can be lowered to catch the wheels of the car they’re chasing. The idea is to lock up the tyres and stop the car without incident. It’s been so successful it has spread to other states. 

      If this shit keeps up there will be a need for special bumpers and training.

      For me I think the solution is to back off the chase and follow from a distance. Whilst quickly deploying two sets of road blocks ahead, first block the offenders meet is a spike strip, second is further ahead to stop innocent cars from progressing further towards the offenders.

      To add, this would probably require a separate emergency Response unit and recruiting of more Gardai / Police.

      Is this another group of lads doing stupid things for TikTok ? How that’s not an instant ban is beyond me especially considering I’ve seen people posting here saying they have reported the content in the past and it was found to be within the rules.

      Just ban people from driving altogether at this stage…. We’ll just have to wait until autonomous cars can do it. We can’t be trusted.

      Nobody give a fuck about the scumbags going the wrong way on a motorway on purpose. Fuck those guys.

      My thoughts are with those who have to deal with the consequences of the stupidity of these scum.

      **Wrong-way vehicle enters → automatic detection → immediate Garda/control-centre alert + motorway warnings → safe tyre-deflation device prevents the vehicle reaching the carriageway.**

      I’ve read every article about this and I can’t find anything linking it to Social Media. Not trying to start anything and I certainly don’t have any trouble believing this could be a ridiculous TikTok stunt gone wrong or anything, but do we know for certain that is the case? Because if it is, I can see this being the catalyst for some very significant changes happening culturally, which I am more than ready for.
