The statement came too late.
Get fucked Neutrogena.
They also turned off their comments. Basically are saying there has been enough negative feedback to impact us financially, but don’t worry we are throwing some money in the form a donation (that’ll be a write off to the company) so we should be good now …… what a bunch of spineless cowards. 🙄
Where was this gesture when she spoke about this very issue in her book and subsequent press surrounding the book?
Coming out with this statement and donation only after her death and their increased backlash is superficial and lame.
Neutrogena finally hired the crisis management PR team, I see.
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I actually and glad to see a corporation admitting to their fault (even if it was far too late…).
I still won’t buy their product, but I can respect the admission.
„I’m so sorry you feel that way“
“Made her feel supported” is not the same thing as “We supported her”.
Company doing company stuff. We should stop acting surprised.
You didn’t save the Cheerleader! The world is doomed.
# BOYCOTT Neutrogena!!!
Sure, they’re covering their asses. They had plenty of opportunities before now to take action and they kicked her to the curb.
They didn’t “nearly” fire her, they DID fire her, she said in an interview not one person at the company said a word to her, no goodbye nice working with you, nothing – a 10 year partnership gone overnight because she talked about postpartum depression. She almost died in childbirth too. Shame on everyone at neutrogena.
This isn’t them saying “I’m sorry“, this is them saying “we’re trying to get ahead of this so as not to lose any more market shares“
Wow if true, I’ve never seen a brand admit fault like this before. Hayden changed the world.
their products have gone down the gutter for the past decade and the hilarious Tate Mcrae product fake out 3 weeks ago they should just close up shop. They are an embarrassment and also with the whole „We plan to set up a donation – tax write off“ Fuck all the way off.
As someone who use Neutrogena and went through PPD, I will never purchase from them ever again
Shame on them
Neutrogena: We love women, except when they have women’s issues.
Couldn’t manage a direct, “We failed to support her, and, by extension, all the women who experienced the same without a platform.” Nope… “We made her FEEL unsupported.”
Translation – we didn’t do anything wrong, per sé… we just hurt someone’s feelings.
Gross
Neutrogena get in the bin and stfu
If only they had spoken out, when this was all revealed in her book and in interviews, instead of waiting for her passing. She should have been able to see this apology!
Neutrogena was owned by Johnson & Johnson, is owned by a spin-off company from J&J called Kenvue. Kimberly-Clark has started a process to buy Kenvue.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutrogena
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenvue
«Kenvue owns well-known brands such as Aveeno, Band-Aid, Benadryl, Zyrtec, Johnson’s, Listerine, Lactaid, Mylanta, Neutrogena, Trosyd, Calpol, Tylenol, and Visine.»
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimberly-Clark
«Kimberly-Clark brand name products include Kleenex facial tissue, Kotex feminine hygiene products, Cottonelle, Scott and Andrex toilet paper, Wypall utility wipes, KimWipes scientific cleaning wipes and Huggies disposable diapers and baby wipes.»
That’s quite a few well known brand related to women’s health, pregnancies and babies.
No wonder Neutrogena/Kenvue is concerned about this negative publicity.
Wow, just pick a different brand. You don’t have to live and die by Neutrogena. You can just pick a different moisturizer. You don’t have to have an opinion on it.
Neutrogena uses Red 40, Blue 1, and Yellow 5 in their shower products. They don’t care your skin and they certainly don’t care about women. Avoid them at all costs.
Translation: Potential customers got mad at us so we used AI to draft up a quick statement to put on IG about how sorry we are. Please continue to buy our products. Thank you.
“We made her feel unsupported” is such bullshit pseudoapologetic language.
You DIDN’T SUPPORT HER. Make it active. Take real accountability. You didn’t make her feel something; you actually did not, in fact, do something that you should have done.
They didn’t actually say sorry..
Neutrogena out here doing damage control before they lose any money. Too late for that now.
Neutrogena is anti woman, their products are tested with cruelty, and they are part of Johnson and Johnson who knew their baby powder was causing cancer and still sold it to women as a hygiene product. Boycott.
A social media apology with the comment section shut down is not an actual apology, though.
My two cents, fwiw.
I feel like they’re using her death as a new marketing opportunity to get their crappy brand back in the spotlight. Just bc she was once their spokesperson. Feels to me they’re trying to piggyback themselves on the back of her tragic passing and take some of the spotlight onto themselves. Trying to insert themselves into the news, so when her name is mentioned, hopefully people will also think of the brand.
Very low.
They didn’t give a rat’s ass about her issues when she was alive & working with them. They should just STFU now. Too late for any „apology“. Very off-putting.
Geez Neutrogena really was scummy and callous in that whole situation. It’s hard to violate a „morals“ clause when the company that imposed it has no morals. Let’s hope they actively make changes to do better from here on out rather than just making a social media post.
Literally the bare minimum they could have done and yet still somehow better than what her own mother came out with.
